Research Areas

Combustion

Experimental and numerical investigation of combustion.

Fire

Fundamental and applied research activities that implement experimental and computational analysis techniques to investigate physical phenomena characterizing fires at the micro-, meso- and macro-scale level. Experimental and numerical investigation of combustion and two-phase flow phenomena in fires, using a wide area of methodologies, such as reactive CFD codes, numerical modelling tools for heat- and mass-transfer phenomena, measurements of temperature-dependent physical properties, large scale natural fire experiments.

Building / District

Research activities that focus on experimental and numerical investigation of building energy saving solutions. Thermal storage systems and innovative elements that help towards the direction of NZEB. District application.

Energy Systems

Near- and long-term trends within the energy industry and local or world economy that may impact energy price, availability, and security, while influencing the choice of fuels and energy-production technologies.
